Recently,
our Special Interest Tours Division contracted to provide
a tour of the UK for a party of Barbershop Singers and their
families.... not only did we devise and operate the itinerary,
but we also put together and advertised a series of concerts
for the group to give, of which the most notable were one
in the Market Square at St Andrews, one in the medieval courtyard
at Warwick Castle and the final one - most memorable by far
- was a joint concert with a Welsh Male Voice Choir which
soon turned into quite a heated competition!
Our Event
Planning Division was called upon two years ago, when one
of our Cruise Line clients asked us to create a truly unique
and memorable event for their guests one day during the summer
while visiting an off-shore island along the mainland coast
of England. The outcome was an event that was so successful
that we have repeated it twice since....! A small, old town
on the island was turned back in time for the day, and transported
back to the Victorian era! The guests arrived to find local
residents all appropriately costumed, the town centre occupied
only by bicycles, horses and carts, and all the shop windows
decorated in the period style! The town councillors (in historic
regalia, of course) welcomed the visitors, who then enjoyed
visits to the homes of the local folk, who hosted them for
a truly individualistic tour of the town. The finale of the
event was a traditional afternoon tea together with folkloric
entertainment
For one of our Corporate Clients we were recently called upon
to create and arrange a Product Launch, involving 600 delegates
from all over the world attending an industrial suburban location
to view a new type of Fork Lift Truck - featuring a choreographed
ballet for the vehicles, followed by an exotic Circus performance!
Our Incentive
Division has a wealth of experience creating memorable events,
in keeping with the need for the incentive user to be able
to provide his winners with ever-more exciting activities....
we have staged full scale Highland Games in Scotland, a scavenger
hunt by bicycle and boat in the English countryside, medieval
jousts and fayres, elegant dining in stately homes, and murder
mysteries in brooding castles. On the more active side, we
have taught one clients' winners to drive Formula 1 racing
cars, and a different group to drive a railway train! One
of our European clients spent a day learning traditional English
field sports (such as Archery, Clay Pigeons, Rifle Shooting
and Fly Casting). Many have enjoyed Hot Air Balloon rides
over various parts of England, and equally many have been
able to enjoy exclusive access and hosted visits at various
sites. When in Scotland, instead of straightforward Malt Whisky
Tastings, we prefer first of all to take our guests to a glass
Crystal Factory, where we can arrange for them to try their
hand at glass blowing, and then engrave their own whisky tumbler
for use at the tasting! From Sterling's perspective, the list
of possibilities is almost endless - We never believe that
"everything has been done before"!
During
the D Day Celebrations in June 1994, we were proud to host
a group of 200 American veterans and incentive winners for
the day, to witness HM The Queen, with many World Leaders
on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, leading a magnificent
flotilla of craft large and small from Portsmouth Harbour
to the Normandy Beaches. The celebrations included massed
military, naval and air force presence, a splendid fly past,
concerts and a religious service.... In order to accommodate
our party in the best possible way, we had negotiated to take
over and refurbish a partly ruined Victorian mid-sea fortress,
for use all day, which provided probably the very best viewing
position of any that was available, since it lay right in
the middle of the sea-way out of Portsmouth Harbour, and the
Royal Yacht sailed past, almost at touching distance! Our
client was able to give his guests a superbly unique experience
matched by no-one else who had attended and crowded along
the shoreline that day!
